Blood Drive

The idea is to get face to face with as many people in the community as possible, while positively impacting a ton of families. Please use THIS Children’s Hospital if possible and drop the name “Community real estate company” so they know we’re a big proponent for them. Here are the steps you can take to organize a successful blood drive in your community:

  1. Find a Suitable Location:

  2. Contact a Blood Center:

    • Usually the dates get planned 2-3 months ahead of time.

    • Contact Tom at Red Cross - he does the bookings for blood drives 469-350-7047 - thomas.blute@redcross.org

  3. Recruit Donors:

    • Aim to schedule at least 30 committed donors. Reach out to community members, local businesses, and residents to encourage participation. Go drop fliers at local shops & restaurants 7-10 days before the event.

  4. Assemble a Team:

    • Appoint a chairperson and gather volunteers to help promote the drive and recruit donors. Create an Email Blast to your Database & your Farm Database. See All 3 Emails to send out before your blood drive. IF you can, Door-Drop the entire community 2-3 weeks ahead of time with info as well.

    • Tom & his team will provide marketing materials for you to tweak, QR codes, digital fliers

  5. Plan Ahead:

    • Start planning at least a few months in advance to allow time for promotion, coordination, and logistics.

    • Plan to have you and 1 other volunteer checking people in

    • Donors will spend about 45-60 minutes on site

    • Red Cross provides chair, food, water, snacks for after they donate

    • Set up 1 hr early, bring banner, table and a full set-up with marketing stuff

Remember, your efforts can save lives and provide vital resources to those in need. Good luck with your blood drive!

Additional Thoughts & Marketing your Blood Drive:

Your Goal: meet as many people in the community face to face as possible. Many will low-key interview you as a future listing agent. This will create a lasting impression, so smile, come with a positive attitude and connect with as many people as possible.

Door drop the entire community 7-10 days before the event with QR code to a landing page you create on your website to register for donating & for volunteering

Create a quick video to push ads on on Instagram & Youtube for your entire database to get directed to your landing page for the event.

See if Community will blast this out to the database. Tell agents on Wednesday’s Community meetings to invite their databases. It’s a great excuse to contact your database and stay top of mind no matter if its your farm or not.

See if you can involve people from the local school and/or church. Pitch it at both is you can.

  • Talk with someone at the front desk if you they can forward an Email to teachers & staff

  • Ask to put up a flier in the lunch room. Use flier & Email to recruit help for hosting

  • See if you can print take-home fliers for the kids to bring to parents

  • Pitch the event at HOA board meetings & PTA meetings

Have someone record video content while there, or at least take a few pictures on your phone that you can post on Social Media. Use this content to Email Blast the entire database and say “Thank you" for coming out, saving lives, etc…” (see email template)
